Occult
I began my esoteric journey around 1978, aged about 12 years old I stumbled upon a book on the Occult in an unobtrusive bookstore in Maidstone, Kent, England.
Forty-plus years later, the name of the store escapes me and even the title of the book but the rest of my memory of that day seems very clear.
I had opened a book on Surnames and was thrilled to find an entry against my own name ‘derived from the Anglo-Saxon name Richolf, derived from the Old German Ricwulf,
meaning power wolf’. It was an exciting find and glowing with my new found ‘heritage’ I picked up a book on the Occult and began to read. I read for about two hours
and it began a life long interest in this forgotten lore.
My understanding of the word ‘Occult’ was ‘hidden or concealed’, and with this knowledge, I went forth and gleaned everything I could from Out Of Body Experience to
Ghosts, Ley Lines to Haunted Houses. Claiming an analytical mind, I searched for this hidden treasure in this most obscure of places and learn a great deal. One of
those gems of wisdom that I gained was the power and importance of words, how ironic that was to be.
It wasn’t until just this week (April 2020), that I read with interest an article on a planetary alignment claiming a ‘smiley’ from space.
(see here https://www.diyphotography.net/astrophotographers-the-moon-venus-and-jupiter-will-form-a-smiley-face-in-the-sky-next-month/).
The phrase ‘an occultation’ piqued my interest and within a moment the All-Knowing Google revealed a mistake I had made forty years earlier. Occult does NOT mean
hidden but rather obscured or shut off from view. My years of lifting every esoteric rock to discover the hidden knowledge was perhaps now a fool’s errand. The
discoveries of the Wisdom of Gaia are not those of unearthing ancient lore but rather removing those things that prevent us from ‘seeing’ the truth that is out there waiting for us.
