Cherish the Power

We Are Guardians

Cherish

We hold the divine energy as brief guardians. Cherish the power.

In The Path To Power, we outlined the energy that fills us, transforms us, and makes our lives worth living. This piece looks at the other side of that equation — how we end up wasting this precious resource, and what we can do about it. The physical, mental, and spiritual drains on our energy that we can often prevent or avoid once we know where to look.

The Physical Drains

Any repetitive physical activity can feel like work if we don't take steps to lift ourselves. Housework or an uninteresting journey can seem pleasurable with some choice music. We join friends when running or working out to break the monotony, and it works — the same distance covered with company feels shorter and lighter than the same distance alone.

On some level we know these solutions, but we don't optimise them. Our options for breaking up the mundane are plentiful: music, company, even daydreaming. But try also bringing in your other senses deliberately. Essential oils or a favourite scent, clothes chosen for their colour and feel, a small snack that you genuinely enjoy. You are limited only by your imagination. Extend it to your environment too — a meaningful picture, a wind chime, scented candles. The workspace or home that has been given some conscious attention holds a different quality of energy to one that has simply accumulated.

On the subject of environment, we need to consider our modern must-haves honestly. Every electronic device we own has a relationship with our energy — a drain that is difficult to quantify but that most people can feel if they pay attention. Unless we intend to live in isolation, we need to find a way to live alongside these things rather than simply surrendering to them. Where possible, have plenty of plant life present. Carry an absorption crystal — Smoky Quartz is a personal must-have for this purpose, drawing in and transforming heavy or scattered energy rather than simply deflecting it.

The Mental Drain — Dissatisfaction

The mind is simultaneously our greatest tool for restoring energy and the place where the highest toll can be taken. Our sense of self is something we rarely examine in any depth or for any sustained length of time. When we do turn our attention inward, we are often weighed down by dissatisfaction — with our body, our job, our relationships, our car, our house, our family, our past, and even our imagined future. The list is specific and the weight is real.

Here is something worth understanding: a bereavement or a genuinely difficult event may make us deeply sad, but it does not drain us in the same way that dissatisfaction does. Grief moves. Dissatisfaction sits. It is a slow rot that works from within, and as it takes hold we unwittingly step further and further from the Divine Essence in the universe. We sink deeper into ourselves until, when we manage to look outside, we see only the walls of the pit rather than the beauty that lies beyond them.

Dissatisfaction is also contagious in the sense that it makes us susceptible to others who carry it. We may allow family, friends, and the media to help us bleed away our energy before we have even noticed it beginning. Over time we reach a kind of resigned settlement with how we are. We become "okay" — which sounds neutral but is actually a significant distance from genuinely alive.

Psychic Vampires

There is a category of drain worth naming directly: the psychic vampire — those individuals who steal away our joy and peace simply by being present. Not through any conscious ill intent in most cases, but through a quality of energy that takes without giving, that leaves you inexplicably depleted after contact, that makes you feel smaller rather than larger.

Most people have encountered at least one. The challenge is recognition, because these relationships often feel obligatory or even loving on the surface. The signal is almost always the same: you feel noticeably worse after spending time with this person than before. Once you have recognised the pattern, you have choices — about how much time you give, about what kind of contact you allow, about how much of yourself you bring to the interaction.

This is not cruelty. It is stewardship of the energy you have been given to hold.

Reconnecting With the Self

Regaining a sense of self that carries genuine serenity and peace can be a long process. The essential thing is to take the steps and begin — not to arrive at some completed state, but to move in the direction of reconnection. The most important understanding, and the one that changes everything once it lands, is this: you are you. You are the Divine creation of you. Where you are and the route that brought you here is the will of the Divine. Not a mistake. Not a failure. The particular, unrepeatable shape of your life is exactly what it was always going to be.

From that ground, the work of reconnection becomes possible rather than overwhelming.

Swimming With the Current

The Universal Ocean is taking you on a journey, and it is always easier to swim with the current than against it. Most of our exhaustion is the exhaustion of resistance — of pushing against what is, of arguing with the shape of our own life, of insisting things should be different from how they are before we have even fully arrived in how they are.

As you begin the journey of genuine connection, you will start to feel the currents of Divine Will — not as an external force imposing direction, but as a quality of rightness when you are moving in alignment with your own deepest nature. When you and the Divine are working toward one goal, the possibilities are boundless. The energy that was being spent on resistance becomes available for something else entirely.

We hold this energy as brief guardians. The guardianship is the practice: to protect it, to direct it, and to offer it back through the living of a life that is genuinely, honestly yours.
