Crystals For Beginners By Karen Frazier

Us When I first began exploring crystals I honestly had no clue what I was doing. I was a true beginner and had trouble knowing where to start. I searched websites and found lots of good information but I tend to be someone who prefers to have books on hand. One of the first books I bought was Crystals For Beginners by Karen Frazier and I continue to refer to its pages even as my knowledge has grown.

In browsing the contents you will find three parts of this book. Part one is an introduction to crystals and crystal healing. It covers the power of crystals, starting a collection, how to use crystals, and how to maximize the power of crystals. I really enjoyed getting to learn about the first ten crystals every collection should have and in fact based my first crystal purchases from this list. She included powerful pairings of crystals with complementary energies.

The second part of the book helps deepen your knowledge even further. It covers forty more crystals to know. Each page is devoted to a crystal and shares its origin, shape, energy, and more. The tips on how best to use them have been invaluable to me.

Lastly, the third section shares how to improve your life with crystals. She list what she calls ‘crystal prescriptions’ and enables readers to find information about a particular subject. Some of the prescriptions are for addiction, anger, envy, love, stress, and more. The prescriptions vary from single stones and affirmations, stone pairings to crystal grid with multiple stones. This has been the most usable part of the book for me. I find myself often looking up ways to incorporate the crystals I have into my life. Honestly, it also drives my desire to add more crystals to my collection.

Every time I open it I discover something new. It is easy to use for the beginning collector and spends a good portion of the book discussing the basics. However even a long time crystal user could find a wealth of information. The page layout is easy to follow and is interspersed with beautiful photographs, it is very visually appealing. I believe this book should be on all crystal lovers bookshelf.
