The Lonely Road

We are born, we age, and we die. In aging, we hope to learn, to grow, to live, to love, and perhaps to find meaning on the lonely road.

It would all seem meaningless unless we have faith, a belief in some reason for our existence, a purpose beyond this life. The concept of an immortal part of life has been with us since the birth of reason. The first people understood the spirit or soul that lay in everything around us and within ourselves.

In trying to understand this energy, we have written countless works. Some are valuable others are less so, but all of them are no more than looking at the reflection of the Universe in a bowl of water. We see an image, improved by the purity of the water but distracted by the beauty of the bowl.

Those people wanting to perceive the truth, look deeper, find disappointment when they see the bottom of the bowl. Some people accept that they cannot look too deep. Others feel deceived and cry out that the Universe does not exist.

Many of the people who have written these guides are rehashing the words of others. There are a few souls in history that have looked beyond the water and seen the truth. If we can gain even the fleetest glimpse of the Universe while walking the lonely road, we would rename birth as the parting and death as the return.

In living, we experience, and as we capture our mortal moments, we fill up our souls ready for our return. In loneliness, we feel at a distance from the Universe that made us. Experience is the measure of our souls, written in the core of our Being that we will return to the Prime.

You are a star in the cosmos, a leaf on a tree. You are unique and yet also part of a living Universe. It is not a lonely road, but a coming home, and you are an essential part of it.
